# Start a new song You can start a new song from the sidebar menu. The song can either be empty, prefilled, or can be based on a common Pop-, Jazz-, or Blues progression (starting from app version 3.1.1)

{% hint style="info" %} If you have **unsaved changes**, you will be asked if you want to save your song, before opening a new one. If your song is **not saved** yet, you will be asked if you want to save it. {% endhint %}

👉 Choose if you want to start an **empty or a prefilled** song.
